Amick Transfer

Great Plains Moving & Storage was founded over 120 years ago by Arthur H. Amick. Then known as Amick Transfer, the company began as a cartage company that transported steamer trunks from Union Station to the Brown Palace. However, by 1914, Amick Transfer operated seven trucks, four vans, two flat wagons and owned a large storage warehouse. Employing a large workforce, Arthur H. Amick oversaw one of the most profitable businesses in Denver. He was successful because he believed a satisfied customer was the best advertisement and worked to provide superior transport service in Denver.

A Legacy of Great Customer Service

Today we are known as Great Plains Moving & Storage, and we maintain his legacy that great customer service is the cornerstone of our business. We have evolved into a regional moving company servicing household relocations, commercial moving, distribution services, and storage.

Great Plains Today

In January 2014, we moved to a new top-rated warehouse in Denver that provides climate-controlled, high security, and advanced fire suppression storage. This state-of-the-art facility is in addition to the secure storage site we operate in Colorado Springs. With these two advanced warehouse facilities in Denver and Colorado Springs, Great Plains can provide exceptional coverage in Colorado.

Great Plains uses trained, full-time crew employees instead of temporary labor, which means your moving jobs are handled by experienced people who care about your items and your complete satisfaction.

Great Plains is an agent of the Specialized Transport, Inc (STI) and continues to operate as the Colorado hub for STI’s 48-state services. We are also STI’s regional distribution center serving a four state area.

Commitment to Community Service

We are proud that Great Plains was twice honored as one of the 12 finalists for the Colorado Ethics in Business Award. We are also active in the Denver community and provide the warehousing and delivery services needed for the Denver Komen Race for the Cure at no cost to their organization. We also supply all transportation services required by the Denver Mizel Museum for their community diversity displays and exhibits in schools and community centers.

Great Plains Moving & Storage was established through hard work and a commitment to excellence, which we strive to live up to every day. We are grateful to our customers for giving us the opportunity to continue our founder, Arthur H. Amick’s legacy.
